This Saturday (09/02), about 100 youngsters participating in the Plant-for-the-Planet project will carry out the first planting of native seedlings along the walking trail Alameda dos Inconfidentes, in Mariana (MG). The project is an unprecedented initiative in Minas Gerais, born out of a partnership between the local authorities of Mariana, the Renova Foundation and Plant-for-the-Planet, an institution created in Germany aimed at planting trees and mobilizing children and youngsters.

On August 19, young people participated in the 2nd Academy of Plant-for-the-Planet, where they could engage in discussions about climate change and the importance of trees to the planet. The idea is that, from now on, they should be able to make peers aware of the importance of having environmental conscience, including the benefits of planting trees to reduce CO2. On the day of planting, these young people will receive the certificate of “Climate Justice Ambassadors”. The goal of the project is planting one million native tree seedlings along the Doce River.
