The event was attended by representatives of public authorities, local authorities and Technical Board of Water Security
To align the views between the public authorities and the Renova Foundation on water management, a workshop was organized, on April 10 and 11, as requested by the Ministry of Health. The meeting was also attended by the Technical Board of Water Security and representatives of the authorities responsible for sanitation in Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo.
On that occasion, the responsibilities of each group were discussed regarding water monitoring, improvements to the Water Treatment Plants (ETAs) and alternative water withdrawal. Based on the points that were discussed, the Technical Board of Water Security will set the minimum bases for the Treated Water Monitoring Program, which will be implemented by Renova.
Likewise, the Technical Board of Communication will draft the guidelines that will support the dialogue in the territories on the subject. “This measure is necessary to make communities aware about the water quality, once it is drinkable and fit for consumption”, says the leader responsible for water treatment and water quality monitoring, Yone Fonseca.
INTERNAL WORKSHOP
Another workshop, this time internal, took place on April 11 and 12, aimed at promoting improvements in the processes of the Rio Doce Basin Monitoring Program. The meeting was also important to integrate the teams, formed by professionals assigned by Samarco and contracted by Renova, who act both in Minas Gerais, in the towns Belo Horizonte and Mariana, and in Espirito Santo, in Ubu. The Information Technology area was also present at the event.
One of the main results was the definition of an action plan that will help implement the opportunities of identified improvements, in addition to setting up a schedule for following the progress of the operations.
