The Festival’s 2024 edition will take place in Governador Valadares and highlights the cultural importance of the region.
The 6th edition of Virada Cultural Rio Doce will take place on August 17th and 18th at Feira da Paz, in Governador Valadares. The event, which is a milestone in the region’s cultural calendar, offers a diverse program, which contributes to promoting cultural integration, attracting tourists and boosting the local economy.
During the 24-hour event, there will be 15 local musical attractions and 15 artistic presentations, including dance, theater, urban interventions, sports competitions, exhibitions and short film screenings. In addition, there will be seven art and leisure workshops, and a children’s area with a multipark arena. This year, what’s new is the State of MG Author Art Festival, Uaitoral, which will reward local artists in seven categories, encouraging artistic production in different expressions.
Virada Cultural Rio Doce receives support from the third edition of Doce RFP, an initiative that seeks to promote projects in the areas of culture, tourism, sports and recreation in the regions affected by the collapse of the Fundão dam, in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.
The current edition had two modalities, 1 – Support for Social Projects in Tourism, Culture, Sports and Recreation and 2 – residual – Recreation Repair. Projects approved in modality 1, such as Virada Cultural Rio Doce, received an investment of R$ 16 million divided between 35 municipalities in Minas Gerais and five in Espírito Santo.
