Analysis was conducted by the Institute for Water Management of Minas Gerais
Comparative data indicate that water quality indices in the Doce River Basin, in the stretch after the Candonga Plant, are similar to the period before the collapse of the Fundão dam. The numbers are the result of a monitoring conducted by the Institute for Water Management of Minas Gerais (Igam).
The data were shared by Igam on May 4 in a meeting of the Piranga River Basin Committee (CBH-Piranga). According to the agency, it is fundamental that society is adequately informed about these analyses.
CBH-Piranga, formed by representatives of public agencies and civil society, aims to discuss issues related to the use of water of its basin. During the meeting, the Renova Foundation presented the actions of the programs focused on the recovery of springs and permanent preservation areas, recovery of agricultural activities in combination with the promotion of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) and the Environmental Regulation Programs (PRA).
