The work is part the action plans for the rainy season

On November 8th and 9th, emergency evacuation simulations were held with the residents of the communities Mariana (MG) and Barra Longa (MG). The work is part of the action plans for the rainy season organized by the Renova Foundation and coordinated by Civil Defense.

The objective was to prepare the population, by means of a practical exercise, about how to act in case of an emergency and assess the procedures and anticipated resources, just like the sirens of the warning system. The simulation also allowed the qualification and training of the teams that will give support in case of emergencies.

In Mariana, the activities took place in the districts of Camargos, Ponte do Gama, Paracatu de Baixo, Paracatu de Cima, Pedras, Borba and Campinas, involving 300 people. In Barra Longa, 500 people took part to the event in the center of the municipality and in the districts of Gesteira and Barretos. The time for the residents to evacuate and get to the meeting points ranged between 15 minutes and one hour, a sufficient and adequate timeframe for keeping safe in a real emergency situation.
