Itinerant office heads to different neighborhoods to register residents for the Mediated Indemnity Program
To facilitate and expedite registration for the Mediated Indemnity Program (PIM) for the interruption to water supply and distribution, due to the collapse of the dam, the Renova Foundation has created itinerant offices, which are traveling through several neighborhoods of Governador Valadares (MG). Residents of the town who have not yet joined the PIM have another opportunity to schedule an appointment to receive indemnity. The mobile office has already made its stop in the Vila Isa neighborhood and in the next few weeks will head to the streets of Altinópolis, Ilha dos Araújo and Downtown.
“The fixed offices continue to attend to the population, except the office of the Santa Rita neighborhood which had its activities closed. It is important to remember that the general assistance in Valadares ends on October 31”, explains PIM coordinator Aloísio Júnior.
In Governador Valadares, more than 136 thousand people have already been attended to, and of this total, about 63 thousand have already had their indemnities credited, which together amount to R$ 65 million. Considering the period of days that the town was left without water supply and distribution in November 2015, the average amount of the population’s water bills was assessed. Based on this assessment the defined indemnity amount was set to R$ 1000.00 per person, always considering an increase of 10% for vulnerable persons.
