Registration of Impacted Parties

In total, 30,227 requests were registered, of which 9,000 were related to the Final Campaign, currently underway and in the process of being attended to. All will be analyzed and are prerequisite for receiving indemnity, when applicable.

The Renova Foundation closed its process through which people who believe to be directly impacted by the collapse of the Fundao dam may request Integrated Registration. In total, 30,227 requests were registered, of which more than 22 thousand in the registration process of the First and Second Campaign. Registration is necessary to collect information on the direct losses of material assets and losses in economic activities, serving the evaluation of these data, which is a prerequisite for receiving indemnity.

All new requests received by January 2 of this year will be evaluated and served during the final registration campaign, the deadline for closing being June 30, 2018.

During the analysis of the requests, Renova will consider direct losses in economic activities, losses (caused by death or disappearance) of relatives of different degrees of kinship or of persons with whom they were living together and/or had a relationship and depended on economically; loss of sources of income (work or subsistence on which one depends economically) all due to the rupture of the link with affected areas; proven loss of areas for fishing, resources and extraction activities, making the extractive or productive activity unfeasible; loss of productive capacity or viability of use of property or part thereof, and others.

After evaluating who should participate in the registration program, Renova will carry out visits to the properties to mark a GPS point (latitude and longitude of the localities); interviews; release of completed forms; delivery of the forms for validation by the families and referral of each case to the repair programs.

The service to the families is individualized and can vary from indemnification and the receipt of financial aid to collective actions aimed at the different impacted sectors. It may happen that the same family is served by different requests.

Some specific situations do not need to be registered. These are the cases of people who lost areas for recreation, had their water supply interrupted – compensated by the Mediated Indemnity Program -, suffered damage to physical or mental health, moral damage and damage to Quilombola and indigenous peoples. The service centers refer these cases directly to the programs that specifically deal with these repair processes.

Everyone who opened a call for registration, will be contacted by Renova to follow up on their request. If the requestor does not receive any confirmation, it can contact the service centers to check the status.
