The Renova Foundation reports that this week the indemnity payment process for minors and incapable persons of Governador Valadares (MG) has started. It is important to clarify that the form of the indemnity payment for this public follows a different proceeding than for the other impacted parties. For the release of the payment the Renova Foundation is awaiting the assessment of each process and its approval by the judiciary of Governador Valadares. Once the judgment gets published, the Foundation takes on average 30 days to credit the indemnity amount on the cards that have already been delivered to those responsible for the minors and incapable persons.
MEDIATED INDEMNITY PROGRAM (PIM)
The Mediated Indemnity Program (PIM) of the Renova Foundation is aimed at compensating those people impacted by the collapse of the Fundão dam. This is done in a simple manner, without the procedures and costs of lawsuits.
In Governador Valadares, the indemnification for the disruption to the water supply and distribution began in November 2016 and has reached about 48,000 people. The intention is to complete the entire indemnification process for this damage by the end of July 2017.
