Initiative is part of the action plan that provides support to healthcare services

Medical care in Barra Longa (MG) specialized in mental health was reinforced, with the qualification of professionals of the Municipal Health Network to treat and prevent cases of drug addiction in the areas of primary care, urgent care, emergencies and primary care.

The first phase of the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs project, created by the Renova Foundation as part of an action plan that provides technical support to healthcare services, was completed on December 9, with the certification of 90 people working in general health care practices, emergency departments and pharmacies in the city, as well as community workers and managers of the Municipal HealthCare Department.

The next step is scheduled for January 2017, when an integration workshop will be held to assess the changes perceived by the professionals during the medical appointments. The setting up of a program for the rehabilitation and creation of jobs and income for former drug users is also planned.
