The Green Gymnastics Project, developed by Usipa, had financial resources transferred by the Renova Foundation, through the Doce RFP
About 60 children and adolescents participated in the Green Gymnastics Project, in Ipatinga, Steel Valley region, Minas Gerais. Developed by Associação Esportiva e Recreativa Usipa, with support from the Renova Foundation, through the Doce RFP, the initiative combines physical activity, with the teaching of artistic gymnastics, to the formation of ecological awareness with classes on environmental education, ecology and care for the environment, especially with the Doce River.
The students got to know different modalities of the sport, such as floor gymnastics and artistic gymnastics, in addition to trampoline and initial movements. The Green Gymnastics project is also an innovative initiative as it introduces a sport that is not widespread and practiced in the region. On November 27th, the students participated in the 3rd Usipa Liespe Artistic Gymnastics Festival. The event, which marked the end of the project, had approximately 105 gymnasts aged between 4 and 15 years. All students received medals for participation. The resources of the Doce RFP allowed the acquisition of equipment for the practice of artistic gymnastics. The compensatory initiative created by the Renova Foundation aims to promote and support cultural, tourism, sports and recreation projects in the regions affected by the Fundao dam collapse, in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo. In all, the public RFP will allocate approximately R$ 12.5 million to 228 projects in the two states.
