Action proposes to create a public leadership development network to promote initiatives and raise funds for the areas

The Renova Foundation, in partnership with the Integrated Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Programs (CIEDS), is promoting a training process to support culture and sport in municipalities in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, through the qualification of public managers. Interested professionals can apply for free until October 15 at the website www.cids.org.br. In all, there will be seven workshops transmitted through a platform developed exclusively for the project and also via Zoom.

In October and November, applicants will participate in training sessions on public policies and development strategies for projects and programs in the areas of culture and sport. At the end of this module, a certificate will be issued. To participate, each municipality must sign an adhesion term that provides for the multiplication of the knowledge acquired during the training process for other civil servants and local institutions that contribute to the municipal systems of culture and sport.

The action is part of the Institutional Strengthening Project for Culture and Sport, aimed at the 39 municipalities in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo that were impacted by the collapse of the Fundão (MG) dam. The proposal is to create a development network of public leaders to promote initiatives in the regions where it operates and raise resources or investments for culture and sport, contributing to the population’s quality of life.

According to Fernando Ottoni, a specialist in Education, Culture and Tourism at the Renova Foundation, qualifying managers and technicians from the departments of culture and sport in the municipalities, the expectation is to make public policies viable in these areas, benefiting the population. “We are going to show the possibilities for raising funds, reinforcing the importance of being well prepared and qualified to strengthen these public policies”, he highlights.

Tutoring and complementary activities

At the end of the online module, public managers will be able to participate in a tutorial until March 2022 so that they can prepare fundraising plans. Complementary materials will be made available to participants on the CIEDS Educa digital platform. The project’s activities run until April 2022, when a webinar will be offered on a collaborative network of good practices to integrate and exchange experiences between public managers in the municipalities.
