Initiatives on aquatic biota can be submitted until August 14
The second public tender of the Rio Doce Biodiversity Project is looking for non-profit institutions that are interested in developing projects to monitor target species of the aquatic biota of the Doce River Basin
In this second phase, the forecast is that R$ 2.5 million will be invested in the selected projects and each application may request up to R$ 835 thousand to execute a project for a maximum of 24 months.

Proposals may cover one or more municipalities in the region and the same institution may submit more than one proposal covering different species, methodologies and objectives.
The list of 32 species potentially impacted by the dam collapse and considered targets for conservation actions is presented in the tender. Full information is available for access here.

About the Doce River Biodiversity Project
With the objective of promoting scientific knowledge about the biodiversity of the region, the Renova Foundation, in partnership with the Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (FUNBIO), began in May the publication of public tenders for research on the target species of fauna and flora of the Action Plans for the Recovery and Conservation of Biodiversity in the Doce River basin, carried out by the Renova Foundation.
The first three public calls for projects will take place in 2023. The first tender will allocate R$ 9 million to at least 10 initiatives aimed at terrestrial biodiversity and the projects are under analysis. The second phase, which is open for registration, is aimed at projects for target species populations of the aquatic biota. The third call will contribute R$ 3.6 million to existing projects for the conservation of species outside the natural environment (ex situ).
