Agreement with municipal governments provides support service through the work of institutions selected in the Social Protection RFP
More than 650 vulnerable families from Governador Valadares and Tumiritinga, in Minas Gerais, will receive social assistance services. The three participating entities were selected by the Social Protection RFP, from the Renova Foundation, which signed the technical cooperation agreement with the municipalities to strengthen the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS).
In Governador Valadares, support will take place through the work of Nosso Lar and Brasil Igualdade Social (IBIS) Institutes. The action will optimize the service to about 320 vulnerable families who live in the areas affected by the Fundao dam collapse (MG). Each of the institutions has its own project and, together, they will receive around R$ 1.1 million for the development of the initiatives. In the municipality, the Turmalina and Santa Rita neighborhoods, in addition to the surrounding regions, are the main places planned to receive activities such as free physical activity, cultural workshops, conversation circles, among others.
In Tumiritinga, Rede Vidas will work to promote the strengthening of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) in the city. For this, the first financial transfer in the amount of R$ 187 thousand was carried out, and the expectation is that around 330 vulnerable families receive the actions. “The selected institutions will develop collective actions in the impacted communities. In addition, the agreements also provide training for SUAS professionals from these municipalities and entities”, says Izabelly de Lima Franca, Social Assistance and Health Analyst at the Renova Foundation.
