Renova Foundation will once again support the holding of the event to encourage adventure tourism and sport cycling
The 28th edition of Iron Biker will be held in Mariana (MG) on November 12th, 13th and 14th. To promote the tourist destination, consolidating the municipality as the national capital of Mountain Bike, the Renova Foundation will support the event for the fourth time.
Iron Biker Brazil was created in 1993, being held in Mariana since 2013. One of the most important mountain bike marathon competitions in Latin America, the event has established itself as a tool to promote sport and leisure cycling in the country. In addition to encouraging adventure tourism in the city, this is a strategic segment that receives investments from the current municipal public administration as a way to diversify and move the local economy.
In 2019, the Iron Biker attracted approximately 6,000 tourists to Mariana, moving more than R$ 3 million in the city. In 2020, due to the pandemic, the event was not held, being postponed to 2021. This year, approximately 2,000 athletes are expected to participate.
The Covid Municipal Commission of Mariana requires all athletes to be tested for Coronavirus before the competition (starting on 11/7), and the negative report must be delivered to the organization as a condition for withdrawing the kit and participating in the competition.
