Initiative to promote culture is the result of a partnership between the Renova Foundation and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Brazil
The cities of Santa Cruz do Escalvado, Rio Doce and Barra Longa, in Minas Gerais, receive, in July and August, editions of the Intermunicipal Heritage Meeting. The initiative, the result of a partnership between the Renova Foundation and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Brazil, seeks to enhance professional training, raise awareness among participants and promote the cultural heritage of municipalities. During the events, communities will have access to lectures, workshops, conversation circles, soirées and exhibitions.
The entire Intermunicipal Heritage Meeting is designed with the support of the population itself, in particular, community leaders, cultural groups and civil society organizations and public bodies. In this way, the initiative meets local needs and has unique versions per municipality.
Cultural References Reparation Plan
The Intermunicipal Heritage Meeting is part of the Cultural References Reparation Plan of the Historical, Cultural and Artistic Memory Program (PG 12), of the Renova Foundation. During all editions of the event, an opening table is held to present to the communities the actions carried out in the communities affected by the Fundao dam collapse between 2021 and 2023.
