The Future of Doce River project is the result of a partnership between the Renova Foundation and Instituto Elos and seeks to promote the development of talented youth from the Doce River Basin municipalities.
After receiving more than 1,000 applications from 24 municipalities in the Doce River Basin region, from Mariana in Minas Gerais to Linhares in Espirito Santo, the 2020 Future of the Doce River project enters a new phase.
In the selection stage, the initiative – the result of the partnership between Instituto Elos and the Renova Foundation – will prioritize aspects such as diversity and the commitment with social causes in the formation and selection of the group. The entire process will be done remotely, following the prevention guidelines of the WHO and Ministry of Health given the current context of the new coronavirus.
The remote selection process, redesigned by the Elos Team, will take place during the month of April. The process will have two stages so that, even though the selection process is not done in-person, the quality that characterizes it is not lost and each participant learns to develop a positive self-esteem.
Our team has been in contact with young applicants since April 8 and will continue to do so until the end of the month. Some schedules have changed so we ask for the understanding of those who signed up and of the organizations that were contacted.
The Elos team visited 24 municipalities along the Doce River
In the last three months, the Elos Team visited 24 municipalities in the Doce River Basin region with the objective of finding young talent for the 18-month training, which seeks to develop their skills and create social impact actions. The team had the opportunity to meet with Municipalities and visit public facilities, as well as getting to know the local communities. Meetings were held with resident associations, quilombola communities, indigenous villages, schools, churches and many other places to present the “Future of the Doce River” project in search of future partnerships, in addition to talking with young people to motivate them to participate.
“The initiative was fantastic. Recognizing talents, using the creativity of our youth to develop sociocultural actions. These projects will be great. It is an immense pleasure to be able to receive an initiative like this in our municipality,” says Thais Rodrigues da Silva, Secretary of Culture of Colatina.
