The actions contained in the terms are to support the municipal public policies for social assistance.

During the month of February, the terms of the Technical and Financial Cooperation Agreement between the Renova Foundation and municipalities in the Doce River Valley are signed. The towns of Bom Jesus do Galho, Ipaba, Conselheiro Pena and Periquito have already signed the agreement, and Caratinga will be the next municipality to sign.

According to Izabelly França, analyst of the Social Protection and Health Program at the Renova Foundation, the actions contained in the agreement are to support the public policies of the municipalities. “This support consists of strengthening the existing social assistance services with the provision of training, transfer of financial resources for hiring human resources, acquisition of inputs, equipment and availability of vehicles and fuel”.

This initiative is part of 42 Renova Foundation programs that aim to promote social protection, through social assistance actions, including sociocultural actions and psychosocial support, accompanying families and individuals impacted by the Fundao dam collapse in 2015.

“After signing the terms, both the municipality and the Renova Foundation require to complete some formalities. The populations will benefit, since the municipalities will make more professionals available for care with the resources received, as well as more inputs for the development of activities in the Social Assistance Reference Center (Cras) and the Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center (Creas)”, explains Izabelly.
