Residents of Bento Rodrigues and Paracatu organized the first July festival in the new communities. The festivities, which took place on the 22nd and 23rd of July, are part of cultural and religious activities that have been carried out in order to preserve traditions and strengthen family bonds.
In Bento Rodrigues, Dona Olinda St. was the stage for stalls with typical food, a forró trio show, toys for children, a mechanical bull and the traditional square dance.
In Paracatu, the celebration took place on the playground of the Pre-K school. In addition to a typical lunch, bingo games, square dancing and games for children, the community also planted trees in Santo Antônio square.
District housing
Even before the first families live in the new districts, they have been participating in activities that allow for the gradual appropriation of spaces, as well as the dynamics of life with their future neighbors. Monthly masses, experimental classes, cultivation workshops, family parties and viola circles are among these initiatives.
