After four and a half years, Andre de Freitas leaves the position of CEO. The chair will be occupied by Paulo Misk from the 10th of July
Andre de Freitas started working at the Renova Foundation in 2018, as Director of Programs, the department responsible for socio-environmental and socio-economic programs for repairing the damages caused by the Fundao dam collapse. Two years later, he took on the challenge as CEO. During that time, Andre accompanied all fronts of reparation work and ends his cycle at the institution in a phase of consistent deliveries.
The new CEO of the Renova Foundation will be Paulo Misk, who holds a degree in engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Paulo Misk worked for large companies such as Largo Inc, AngloAmerican and AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group NV.
About the reparation process
The reparation is at a time of robust deliveries. Families are moving to the district of Bento Rodrigues (Mariana) and, in Paracatu, the first keys have been delivered. By May 2023, more than 417,000 people had received R$14.1 billion in indemnities and Emergency Financial Aid.
Integrated actions for forest restoration, recovery of springs and sanitation are taking place along the Doce River Basin and are aimed at improving water quality. By May 2023, R$30 billion had been earmarked for actions to repair and compensate for the collapse.
